Our Creative Soul project began in 2019 - ongoing
At Nine Elms Arts Ministry we believe passionately in the power of arts and creativity to nurture our holistic wellbeing – and we have never been in a time when were more aware of the need to take care of our whole selves!
Back in 2019 (remember those pre-pandemic days!) Nine Elms Arts Ministry launched its first arts wellbeing event at the Turbine Theatre (then the Village Hall) at Battersea Power Station, as part of Wandsworth Arts Fringe. Creative Soul: Arts Spa, was a wonderful day of dance, film and crafts – we even had rose oil hand massage! The day was a sell-out and received universally great feedback.
Since then, we have hosted a variety of ‘pop-up’ events - combining quality arts practice with accessible activities which nurture wellbeing – including hosting hundreds of adults and children at mini-workshops as part of Wandsworth Council’s ‘Happy Streets Festival’ in 2019 and 2021. Those who have taken part in our programmes always talk about the improvements to their mood and general feeing of wellbeing following the sessions – and about what fun it was!
In 2022 as we emerge slowly from the pandemic, its wonderful to at last be able to fully launch our Creative Soul arts & wellbeing programme, with the generous support of London based property developers, Dominvs Group – our flagship sponsor from the Nine Elms Advent Calendar. The sponsorship means that we are able to offer the pilot programme completely free to local people which is really important to us at Nine Elms Arts Ministry, as we want to enable everyone to be able to enjoy the valuable benefits that arts and creativity can have on our wellbeing.

With Creative Soul we are aiming to bring people together in creative spaces for fun and accessible events which care for the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual health of the community. Building on our wonderful network of local venues and artists, the project will offer residents from across the Battersea and Nine Elms area the chance to try-out a wide variety of artforms and creative practices led by locally based professional creatives in fabulous locations across Nine Elms.
We hope that Creative Soul will help Nine Elms become a beacon for the use of arts and creativity for wellbeing and will enable residents, across this wonderfully diverse and ever-changing area, come together as the heart and soul of Nine Elms.
